Culturally and linguistically diverse communities are a powerful asset to local governments, fostering resilience, innovation, and deeper community engagement. However, without a clear language access strategy, public services risk unintentionally creating barriers that hinder participation, erode trust, and lead to inefficient government spending due to inadequate planning. This session examines how a well-crafted Language Access Plan can be a strategic tool to centralize service usage, formalize outreach, and effectively meet the needs of individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and disabilities. We will explore what it takes to create a comprehensive Language Access Plan through strategic planning, inclusive organizational practices, and accessibility-centered services.
